What Are Oxygen Concentrators?

Oxygen concentrators are units that extract oxygen from the regular air and provide it to the patient.

The air we breathe is normally (at sea level) 21% oxygen. An oxygen concentrator removes the nitrogen in the surrounding air and proceed to deliver approximately 95.5% oxygen.

These are electrical units, that are normally used at home as they do not need refills, one of their great advantages.  It is recommended that an emergency supply of oxygen is kept handy in case of power cuts.

A good idea is also to inform your power company of your situation so that in case of an emergency you are put at the top of the list for resupply.

Over the last few years portable concentrators have been developed and are offered in the market providing very good alternatives that enhance your mobility.  Portable Oxygen Concentrators will allow you to travel freely with out the need for oxygen tanks.

These portable systems typically use AC, DC or battery power.
